The region

Located right next to Montreal, Lanaudiere is one of Quebec's beautiful regions. Known for its unspoilt and pristine nature, the region is nestled between the St-Lawrence river and the Laurentian mountains, and between the Laurentians to the west and the Mauricie to the east. Lanaudiere spreads across a vast north-south corridor nearly 250km long by 85km at its largest point, for a total area of 13,537km2. You can quickly go from densely populated areas to sparsely inhabited natural spaces.

Find yourself enchanted by the regions nature and culture.

The north of Lanaudiere (Matawinie) is a great territory for fishing and hunting, it has a large number of outfitters and hundreds of kilometers of managed trails for both snowmobiles and ATVs. The Matawinie has six regional parks and five large lakes surrounded by sandy beaches.

In Algonquin, Matawinie means 'where two things meet'. The region is characterized by its unique geological setting, wildlife and forests, situated in the heart of one of the oldest rock formations on the planet (laurentian-precambrian).
